Summer Learning Journey day 4, task 1

Hello fellow bloggers
In this Learning Journey task all I had to do was pick 3 waiata's to listen to and pick my favourite one. The waiata's I listened to are called Tiaho Mai Ra, Poi-E and E Papa Waiari. My favourite waiata is Tiaho Mai Ra because the tune is very nice. Here is the lyrics in Maori, the lyrics in English.
Tiaho mai rā
Te whetu o te ata
Kopu i te ao,
Pareārau i te pō
Ka tu te ao marama
he ao hara
Tu mai rā koe hei tohu i ahau,
Tu mai rā koe hei tohu i ahau,
E kore te aroha,
E kaupare noa
Hoki mai rā ki ahau, e te tau.
Hoki mai rā ki ahau, e te tau.

Tiaho mai rā
Te whetu o te ata
Kopu i te ao,
Pareārau i te pō
Ka tu he o marama
he ahara
Tu mai rā koe hei tohu i ahau,
Tu mai rā koe hei tohu i ahau

Shining over there

Is the morning star
Venus in the dawn,
Saturn in the night
The full moon is rising
Above a sinful world
You rise up there as a sign to me
You rise up there as a sign to me...

...that love does not
Randomly turn away.
Come back to me my darling
Come back to me my darling

Shining over there
Is the morning star
Venus in the dawn,
Saturn in the night
The full moon is rising a
Above a sinful world
You rise up there as a sign to me
You rise up there as a sign to me.

Summer Learning Journey day 3, task 1, 2

Hi fellow bloggers,
In this Summer Learning Journey task all I had to do was write a couple of sentences about how I would feel about living in a family of nine siblings. Here are my sentences.

For a start I wouldn't be happy living in a large family, I would be cramped. I would think it would be hard for the parents. Imagine 2 parents with 9 children it would be crazy. Having 9 siblings to deal with would be hard for me.

Task 2
In this task we need to write down our pepeha. Here is my pepeha.

Ko Hikarangi te maunga
Ko Antrim te awa
Ko Tainui te waka
Ko Kerikeri tōku marae
Ko Ohaeawai ahau
Ko Gerorgina rāua ko Bevan ōku mātua
Ko Louisa tōku ingoa.

Summer Learning Journey day 2, task 1, 2 and the bonus activity

Hi Fellow Bloggers,
In this Learning Journey task I had to compare a wharepuni to my house. 2 differences and 2 similarities between a wharepuni and my house. Here are my differences and similarities.

Similarities: A wharepuni and a house are places you can both sleep in. They are both made of wood.

Differences: A wharepuni is also made out of fern, rushes and bark but houses aren't. Houses don't have carvings on the outside.

Task 2
In this task all I had to do was draw a picture of me doing my dream job. When I'm older I want to work for NASA. Here is my drawing.
Bonus Activity
In this activity all I had to do was create a picture of my favourite food and tell why it is my favourite food. Here is my drawing.

Summer Learning Journey day 1, task 1, 2 and the bonus activity

Task 1
Hi fellow bloggers,
I am doing the Summer Learning Journey this summer. My first task was to read the myth Maui and the giant fish. Once I had read the story I had to write three facts about Maui. Here are my three facts.

1. Maui is very brave.
2. Maui has faith in himself.
3. Maui will never give up no matter how hard it is.

Other Maui myths I know: How Maui slowed the sun & How Maui brought fire to the world.

Task 2
This is task 2 for day 1. In this task I had to write a letter to my friend about how I feel about moving to a new country. Here is my letter to my friend.

Dear Sara,
I am moving to a new country by waka. I am nervous because I don't know how long it's going to take to get to the country. The waka might even tip over.
From Louisa

Bonus activity
In this activity I had to watch a video of a Waka Ama race and explain why or why not I would like to do a Waka Ama race. Here is what I think about a Waka Ama race.

I would like to do a Waka Ama race. It looks like a lot of fun.
